Turkey Spinach Burgers Recipe

My kids actually like these, and they are eating something that is good for them. Made with ground turkey and frozen spinach, I also throw in raw sunflower seeds and celery which makes them crunchy. If I want to get a little fancier with them I will make a brown gravy and add mushrooms.

Ingredients

* ½ C. diced onion
* ½ C. diced celery
* 12 oz. ground turkey
* 1 small box frozen spinach
* 2 slices bread, made into crumbs
* ½ tsp. poultry seasoning
* 1 tsp. garlic salt
* 1/2 tsp. pepper
* 1/4 C. sunflower seeds

* Optional Mushroom Sauce:
* 1 small can of mushrooms
* 1/2 onion
* 1 tsp. worcestershire sauce
* 1 tsp. garlic salt
* 1 tsp. pepper
* 2 C. water
* 2 Tbs. corn starch
* 1/4 C. water

Directions

Drain spinach and squeeze excess water out. Mix all ingredients. Divide evenly into patties and fry in nonstick skillet. 4 servings of 3 cakes each.

Mushroom Sauce Option:  Brown one small can of mushrooms in the same skillet you fried the burgers in. Add more onions if you like. Add 2 cups of water to the skillet and bring to a boil. Add all the seasonings. Stir up 2 Tbs. cornstarch into about a 1/4 C. water. Add this mixture to the skillet stirring constantly until it starts to thicken. Add the burgers to the gravy and serve over rice, noodles, or mashed potatoes.
